Mrs Margaret Lawrie
My husband has used flymo for many years and bought the XL500 as our old mower broke. This model is updated and improved compared to the previous model. Garden Lines did as promised.
Mr JIM RUSSELL
I have been using this type of machine albeit 2 Stroke for the past 30 years. This Model, 4 Stroke and much heavier is taking a bit of getting used too. The machine presents an excellent quality of finish on my specialist grass and is in every respect, a 'professional' machine.
Mr Roger F Holt
Hi, I have excellent faith in this product. I bought one a few years ago. I have bought this mower for a present. It for the person that needs a mower. I choose this mower because of its type and for the application that is needed, and the name and the quality of the product. Roger Holt
I have used Flymo petrol mowers for years - but went away from them because of poor engines, this new one with a Honda engine solves the old Flymo problem of bad starting. It's really good and fast and doesn't stall easily in long grass, it's a joy to use.
Typical Flymo, and typical Honda Engine. Fiddley support lever, but it does the job. Cuts splendidly but we have to remember the 45 degree slopes! AND, it is much heavier than the JLO engined Flymo Contractor GT2 which we still use (on the 45 degree slopes!) Hope the XL500 lasts as long as the Contractor GT2!
The Flymo XL500 is a sturdy machine and relatively easy to assemble from the box. Be careful not to overfill the fuel and oil and be careful to fill the fuel to the "seam" of the tank otherwise it will not prime the pump. Overall impressions is that it is a sturdy machine, well built and has a reliable Honda engine which should last a long time given that it is looked after. A big thanks to the Presentlines team for making life so easy.
The product is exactly what I wanted and the service I received from Garden Lines was second to none. My only criticism of the product is that the handbooks are very difficult to understand, but other than that perfect.
First time purchaser of a Flymo. Does what I expected. Build quality good, Honda engine good with plenty of power. transport wheels should be designed for easy fitting and removal. Very pleased.
I had looked at this mower in our local garden store shop before buying from GardenLines. As a retired engineer, I'm very pleased with the product. The price paid compared with the local supplier is very good. Ken Price
Does an excellent job. However it is heavy, has to be stored flat on the ground, and does not glide as easily over the ground as my old two stroke did.
wonderful product, should've bought it years ago and saved my back.
Thanks for the fast delivery !! Perfect service !! The Flymo is working very well, very good machine
Great device good starter when you remember to turn the fuel tap on I already had a nylon line fly mow but having to stop and keep replacing the lines is a nuisance The XL500 plus with the steel blade has resorted my over grown areas to normality Slow going when cutting knee high stuff and then fantastic for future maintenance, the safety grip is a good idea as when cutting banks you can slip and on this machine it will stop . I use a lawn tractor for our orchards but this machine is great for safely cutting around young trees and edges and great on domestic lawns.
I have a sloping and large lawn area extending to over 1.5 acreas Flymo XL500 is an ideal mower for this area. 4 stroke Honda is much easier to start and handle than my old 2 stroke flymo.
Excellent build quality, easy to use, easy to clean and easy to start. If a hover mower is what you want without the fuss of electric cables, I could highly recommend this model. It is also light enough to carry a short distance, and think the additional wheels for transportation would rarely be necessary.
A LITTLE HEAVY TO HANDLE, WHEN STATIONERY, BUT THIS IS DUE TP THE HONDA 4 STROKE NOW BEING FITTED. ONCE STARTED RUNS LIKE A DREAM, AND VERY QUIET, TYPICAL OF A HONDA ENGINE. ASSEMBLY WAS VERY EASY
I needed a mower to maintain undulating ground which is also on a slope and it also had to be light in weight, so that I can move it up and down steps with ease. This is the only type of mower that will do all these tasks. The 4 stroke Honda power unit makes it very powerful, easy to start & much quieter than the old 2 stoke models. It is easy to use and provides a very good finish on difficult terrain. The 3 cutting heights are easily achieved by the use of the provided spacers, I have chosen to use 1 spacer and this seems to suit my need and hovers well over the ground
eXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE. TRICKY TO ASSEMBLE THE HANDLE BUT EASY TO START
The machine arrived next day. It is excellent. Being a four stroke, it is heavy, but once running it is easy to handle and cuts and hovers well. It is very economical and being a four stroke and a Honda, it starts first pull and is not going to be temperamental like a two stroke. I bought it to replace a 22 year old Flymo CL4, which has a Briggs 4 HP four stroke engine but has finally given up. The new machine promises to be just as tough, but I reckon it uses less than a quarter of the petrol and is quiet. You have to watch when you tip it up that oil does not run into the air cleaner. It's best to support the machine on timbers so as not to have to tip it up. Also, bear in mind that hover mowers are not suitable for rough uneven ground and foreign objects like dog bones, and things left hidden in long grass are lethal to a hover mower. Make sure you wear protective boots and never walk backwards, I've seen people lose toes by disregarding this advice.
The XL500 Plus is about the best flymo avaialable. We now have 3 and they all have performed well. Gardenlines delivered the mower within 48 hours of order, all the way to Scotland.
Bought as a replacement for a 20+ year old Flymo. Build quality still seems to be good. Cheaper than other hover mowers on the market. Cuts well but, because of the larger 4 stroke engine than the old machine, it is heavier and harder to push on long grass.
Heavier than the two stroke Flymo that this has replaced, but with the extra power it's light to use once started. Also easy to start and the engine is Honda (nuff said).
Slightly heavier than earlier 2 stroke machines but there is no new alternative. Other makes are even heavier and more expensive. Outstanding value for money.
this machine works very well, we were highly impressed by your companys effeciency.
We have not used the machine yet only checked contents. Had one several years ago so know it is just the machine for us. Thanks for good service.
Excellent product but because I am using it mainly on sloping ground it's not easy to handle because of the weight. Delivery was exactly as stated. Ray Newton
A powerful and robust product. Just right for large areas of uneven ground where a normal wheeled mower would struggle. Easy and light to use and very good value for money. Eonomical on fuel and an all round sound investment in garden machinery.
I think this mower is ideal for my garden as there are a number of levels and slopes to deal with. I filled it with oil and petrol pulled the starting cord and off it went first time leaving a quality cut. It will need to be able to stand up to a lot of hard work in its lifetime, though I think it looks the business - a great combo Honda and Flymo!!
Well finished & well made & I am looking forward to using the mower for many years judging from my experience with my Honda HRB 475
Well, it cuts the grass very well, err, I guess it does exactly what it says on the tin to use an old and over used saying. It's a bit heavy though.
I agree with those who say this 4 stroke Flymo isn't as manoverable as the older lighter 2 stroke but I don't have a problem with that. I'm cutting about 450 sq yds with just a few trees to go round. It hovers well, is easy to push, cuts grass fast and I can do this area on a litre of fuel. More economical than a 2 stroke and starts first pull. This was the best price I could find, good value for money and super fast delivery.
Very pleased with service. Topped up the oil filled with petrol. Started first pull. Very pleased with power etc.
I am very pleased with the product, and delighted with the next day delivery.
Prompt and excellent service. Lawnmower appears to be first class although a bit larger and heavier than I expected.
My husband is highly satisfied with product, our lawn was 18" high! it made short work of it. He now enjoys doing the lawns as it does'nt take long, no cables in the way and no clumps of grass.
I bought this product for two reasons. 1. Flymo is a well respected brand and 2. The mower has a Honda engine which in my opinion will be reliable and should start easier than a two stroke engine.
A first class machine and fit for purpose for mowing steep banks with relative ease.
Quick delivery,great product. A1 service.Good price
Great product! Does what it says on the box. Started first pull. Easy to understand instructions Hovers and cuts well
Perfect all round mower. The petrol flymo will cut a large lawn in half the time of a conventional mower. Especially good in rough areas and slopes.
