The manufacture of Nova cast aluminium furniture is complex and requires great skill at all stages. The process takes place in Nova’s own foundry in Hungary, beginning with the casting of recycled molten aluminium alloy at approximately 700°C. The finished components are coated in a polymer based UV protected outdoor grade electrostatic powder spray finish and baked at 180°C, which is as impressive as it sounds. Each piece is inspected before being flat packed and labelled ready for weekly shipments to the Nova factory in Kent.
With their tubular aluminium furniture range, Nova have complemented rust proof, lightweight material with some impressive partners. Including resin weave which combines the good looks of wicker with a hard wearing UV resistant, rain-proof material. Or for those hot summer days there’s Textylene, a clever contemporary material that lets the air through to keep you cool.
Nova’s timber is exemplary, exported from FSC approved forests and cut to Nova specifications it can last a lifetime. The ‘king’ of timbers is teak, one of the world’s most valuable woods, endowed by nature with rich natural oils which protect this strong close-grained hardwood and allow it to weather beautifully. The rest of Nova’s hardwood furniture is pre-treated with an oil based water repellent wood preservative, enhancing the natural beauty of the timber while providing further protection.
Nova standards are also applied to their classic and contemporary cushions, conceived by in-house designers to complement their furniture. Season seat pads, bench pads and recliner cushions come in a wide range of patterns and fabrics chosen for their quality and durability.
